This is a handy and easy to use product; I like it so much I bought a second one! It is a durable powder coated finish so you can leave it out in the rain. I primarily use it as work table while bar-b-queuing for dishes, other utensils, and preparing items to put on the grill. One improvement I would make is to have railings on three sides; I use it on a third floor balcony and when something goes overboard I have to retrieve it via a stairwell. Plenty of surface area and sturdy enough for the heavy stuff. One tip when you assemble it pay attention to the photo on the box and not the setup instructions; they have the adjustment support installed backwards on the setup sheet. The company says they will correct it but I would buy it again anyway.

I bought this not a grill shelf, although I'm sure it would work well for that purpose, no I needed a shelf to work on when I use my grill on my porch. You know the problem, you got plates and pans with the stuff you want to grill, you've got grill gloves, grill tools, and much more. With just a railing there is nowhere to put anything. I tried using a TV table but it was not stable enough and to small; this is the perfect professional griller companion. I recently grilled 6 slabs of baby-back-ribs, I was able to pull them out, cut them on a cutting board and then put them in the serving pan. Lots of room for everything and I'm on third floor balcony. You can also hang it inside or outside whatever works best for you. I like it so much I am buying a second one to use for serving trays for my guests.
