Comments:

The bed arrived mostly assembled, except the headboard and drawer handles. It was a lot larger than we expected, but with some determination, we made it upstairs. It's a great bed for teens - loads of storage space, reading light, holes for alarm clock/iPod dock cords - would recommend this bed.

Comments:

I found this unit to be not only easy to assemble, but was of a quality that was higher than I'd expected. Granted, my expectations were not that high, but I found that the quality of the construction to be such that I have no doubts that this bed will properly service our 2-year-old for years to come. The drawers move easily on good-quality rollers, the mattress support is such that I have no concerns about stability or durability and the captain's headboard is also well executed. My only concerns are as follows:

1) Some of the pieces are held together with carpentry staples. Though I do not believe that this will cause a problem for us, I normally prefer something more fixative.
2) There were virtually no setup instructions to speak of. This turned out to not be a problem in that it was 90% set up as delivered, but I still found it to be a little odd that there really wasn't much detailing that final 10%.
3) The means by which the headboard is affixed to the bed base is incomplete and required me to drill my own pilot holes for the screws, etc.

Beyond that, my wife and I are quite happy with this purchase.

These beds are large and cheaply made. I regret not purchasing simpler beds made of real wood.
