MINOX Cameras - The making of a classic camera
Walter Zapp, the inventor of the subminiature camera MINOX, was born on September 4th, 1905 in Riga (Latvia), he died on July 17th, 2003 in Switzerland
A camera that has ambitions to become a classic has to feature an ingenious design which will enthuse photographers for years to come. The concept at MINOX has always been to provide cameras with the smallest possible dimensions, demonstrating absolute precision and a topclass design. That's MINOX. Past, present, future.
There's always a clever mind behind every classic design. And the MINOX story must always be told with reference to the name, Walter Zapp. The legendary designer who wrote photographic history with his revolutionary invention of the first Ur-MINOX in 1938. The ingenious idea was to be seen in its dimensions. A camera smaller than a cigar and weighing less than a cigarette lighter. And featuring an excellent lens. This was a stroke of lasting genius - as the MINOX ECX and the MINOX CLX Special Edition still proof today. And of course, it was no surprise to see these miniature cameras with the 8 x 11 mm film format go on to become world famous as espionage cameras.
The MINOX GT-E and GT-S are almost equally famous: with nearly 2 millions sold cameras they are one of the world's smallest 35 mm viewfinder cameras. Classic cameras with more than just excellent design. MINOX stands for proven lens quality, robust mechanics and easy operation. Enough possibilities for creative imagination of the photographer. All products from MINOX are made in this tradition.

Comments:
The Minox 6x16 is a rugged, smoothly shaped monocular. Whether in the city or at country events, You get a good image, wide field, easy viewing, compact carrying glass. You will get compliments and inquiries. It looks like the subminature spy camera!!! The sliding focus was designed for quick one hand focus. Yes, this can happen . To get a really sharp image , I have to hold the monocular with my right hand and slide the focus with my left slowly. The Movie Screen image gives an on stage impression. You can turn the "stage " up and down to get a great height image. Of course bracing it when you can--always helps. The glass fits the hand well without being obtrusive. This makes it superb for urban use!!
