I bought this because the bed my one cat was using was dirty and it was the type that you are not able to clean. So, I got this item and threw out the old bed. Unfortunately neither cat used this pad, She finally used a washable old one I found in another part of the house. In fact, Until I took out the warming element and inserted it into an old dog bed that we own. My older cat uses the bed (more often) which before, he hardly used once a year. So, the padding is useless, but the heat element was at least salvageable. I would only recommend this item if your cat isn't infatuated with you and wants to sleep on you all the time, cause in this house it didn't work.
