Started in late 1999 as an after-hours project and following three years of product design and development, a partnership was formed to optimize manufacturing and increase marketing efforts by combining the global sourcing and distribution expertise of Mike Markwardt with the sales and marketing leadership of Howard Klion and the design and engineering expertise of Brock Brandenberg.
The current Legare designs are simply an evolution of this original modular design, with the introduction of some new materials and finishes along the way. All components preserve the original aesthetics and functionality while remaining free of the need for tools or fasteners.

Comments:
I use this as a combination writing/computer desk -- there's room for my laptop and large monitor and the small rear shelf holds pens, my still and video cameras and other smaller items. The shelves hold external hard drives and some other peripherals I don't use all the time. I can slide my laptop back and have room to write. All alone the desk fits in a very small space but there are plenty of options for expansion should the need arise. NO HARDWARE for assembly, yet its as sturdy as the desk I had before. The all-bamboo construction is good and solid for writing as well as attractive. Cable openings are right where they should be, including through the shelves so you can run cables off the floor but across the bottom of the desk. I can't think of anything negative.
